Conversely, it is also possible to extend the gate across your staircase opening and have a gap of 1" of less between the fabric and the spindle or banister. Sturdy, easy to install baby gate with a few flaws. Our stairs are 48" from wall to central bannister post, so I order the large size. Unfortunately from the wall to the snap edge of the fabric is 52" so a couple of inches of fabric has to be wrapped around the post however the straps are both attached at the edge of the fabric so the only way to prevent the fabric from pulling loose and rotating around your post is to make them extra extra tight on your post. However there is no padding or fabric on the straps and latches to prevent them from scratching. Additionally you have to wrap and unwrap the post, unlatch and relatch the three snaps every time you use your stairs. It's a real struggle when you're carrying laundry or a toddler. I improvised: put pool noodle padding under the straps and buckles, drilled a hole through a "spacer plate" which when stacked on top of the other spacer has enough room for a zip tie which makes a very servicable latch that you can do single handed. Some neoprene or other padding under the latch would really be appreciated.Ugly as all hell but absolutely does the job. My two year old climbs through if you don’t clip all 3 bucklesWe love it! Very easy to install, and very sturdy. Not easy to undo while holding a child- we usually end up unhooking too clip and stepping over. Also, need two hands to roll up so not the easiest if you’re in a rush and holding a child. But otherwise we like it!I like the thick fabric of the gate, I just don't like the fasteners. If you have studs, great but I can't imagine not using studs to really hold the gate securely. The fasteners are simple but once tension of just 5+ lbs push against it it's a bit risky on the fasteners. Seems like any more tension than that could simply pull the clips right out.Great for pets but not children more than 1 year old. The price is a bit much for just a fabric gate. It's really only worth half that. If they could have offered better tension options maybe a little more but not worth the price.Overall I like it, I believe it’s overpriced but there are not many great solutions for a banister to wall baby/ dog gate. What I don’t like about is you cannot take the fabric off to clean without unscrewing a bracket. What I love about it is it can be installed at an angle and is very versatile. The slats inside seems to make it sturdy enough to keep my 18 month old from pushing it down. It doesn’t push against my banister where a tension gate would an possible lossen it up. It is soft so it doesn’t bang against my walls and trim when opening an closing. It stands on its own nice an nearly off to the side and looks great. It is a very creative gate an one of a kind. I hope it holds up well as it is made in the USA!I really love the look of this and the seller has been great with me needing to return it. I’d like to support more of this company. It was a safe gate and sturdy too. I didn’t find the gate very functional and practical however as there is no good way to step through it unless you unclip all the clips. We’d prefer something that we wouldn’t have to step all the way over—I always end up tripping. We settled on a gate with a door. If there was some way to use this more easily I would be using it in my home for sure.Good and reasonably attractive barrier. Takes longer to hitch to the bannister for use than the old wooden gate, but much better in terms of space taken up.Screws supplied were not long enough when the spacers are used, which are definitely needed since the bottom fixture goes on the baseboard and the top one goes on the wall.
